How Hot Mix Asphalt Calculations Work
Hot mix asphalt (HMA) is sold by weight in US tons (2,000 pounds). To calculate how much material you need, you must first calculate the 3D volume of the area to be paved, and then multiply by the compacted density of asphalt.
